The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), otherwise known as the Global Goals, are a universal call to action to end poverty, protect the planet and ensure that all people enjoy peace and prosperity. They consist of 17 goals with 169 targets among them. They can be used as a taxonomy for coding grant data, enabling better data sharing and benchmarking across the sector.
To implement the Sustainable Development Goals as a coding system, funders should configure their Grants Management System with the taxonomy (or a subset thereof) the same way they would with any other set of codes. GMS Vendors can often offer support for this process.
We do not currently know when GMS vendors offer access to this taxonomy within their software.
We do not have information on the number of funders utilizing this taxonomy for coding their grants.
